As we continually work to provide a superior collateral platform that helps streamline and orchestrate your valuation workflow, one big focus is providing straightforward ways to maintain compliance with applicable regulations. With that in mind, there is an upcoming change that will help you protect borrowers’ NPI as required by GLBA and other laws. This feature will prevent the borrower’s name and loan number from being shown together in an email, so we want to let you know what to expect when it becomes available.
With our next update, you’ll see a couple of changes in Mercury Network’s Account view. The section titled Password security will simply be called Security and will include additional items in an NPI Protection Options section. There, you’ll be able to select whether to mask the borrower’s name or the loan number in notifications sent via email. The borrower name will be masked by default, which means their name will be replaced with the word Borrower. You can alternatively choose to mask the loan number, which means that part of the number will be represented by X in email messages. This will only apply for notifications where both the loan number and borrower name appear in the same message.
When this new option becomes available next week (expected Wednesday, April 7) you’ll be able to make your masking selection. Then, the masking will be applied to email notifications on or after Wednesday, April 21. If you don’t make a selection, borrower names will be masked by default.
